My husband and I were fresh out of Bible college and headed for the mission field when we first started attending Grace. When the pastor introduced himself to me I made sure to let him know, “We plan on going overseas, so we won’t be here long.” The Lord had other plans. He wanted me to spend some time getting equipped at the “armory” that was called Grace Covenant Fellowship.
I’m a city girl who likes to travel. I couldn’t wait to get out of Toccoa, but I felt the Holy Spirit, telling me I had a lot to learn and I needed to stay put. Grace was just full of all these people who loved God and actually lived the Bible. I was so convicted. I wanted to have a good marriage and raise my kids right, but I didn’t know how. I surrendered, and that’s when the equipping process began.
So with a solid marriage, five years, and a couple kids later, when we were suited up and ready to “go into all the world,” the people of Grace sent us out to Asia. Even though our hearts will always be overseas, our veins will always run back to our home church in Toccoa.
